The Cameroon Cricket Federation has hosted an intensive Umpiring and Scoring Refresher Course today, Thursday, July 16, 2026, at the federation’s headquarters in Yaoundé.
The training program serves as the cornerstone of preparation for the highly anticipated 2026 Joint Cricket Domestic League and Cup of Cameroon, which is scheduled to begin in just four days.
The workshop was attended by key stakeholders, including development officers, club captains, and vice-captains, all under the direct supervision of Secretary General Betieh Njoya Jacob.
Under the strict regulatory guidelines set by the International Cricket Council (ICC) , the facilitators conducted deep-dive sessions into the Laws of Cricket with emphasis on modern umpiring nuances and precise scorekeeping. The course also covered positioning and angling for umpires.
“We are looking forward to a highly successful domestic league and cup tournament,” said Secretary General Betieh Njoya Jacob during the session.
“That is why we organized this refresher course today to build capacity and most importantly ensure that players, captains, and officials are completely aligned on the laws of the game before the very first ball is bowled.”
The joint domestic league and cup of Cameroon tournament will kickoff on Monday July 20 with the mens category featuring 12 clubs from different regions while the women’s category will begin on Thursday July 23 with 10 clubs.
